Beauty Influencers are Choosing Poly Gel over Acrylic and Gel: Here’s Why

Poly Gel is soooo hot on the beauty scene at the moment—and for good reason.

Longevity and Quality

Poly gel is lighter on the nail and more flexible than acrylic. It’s also a lot more durable than gel. Need we say more? Probs not, but we will.

Acrylic nails have a lot to offer in terms of longevity—lasting up to 4 weeks. Done properly, a gel mani can last up to 2 weeks. That’s if it doesn’t peel off (or you eat if off) within the first 24 hours. Done well, a poly gel mani should last about three weeks. 

Additionally, while acrylics are known for their rather pungent scent, poly gel has little to no fragrance!

Convenience

If you’re a busy babe who just aint got the time for keeping up with various beauty appointments, poly gel is for you. Say hello to a fresh set of claws done from the couch.

Removal Process

The removal process for both acrylics and gel can be a bit of a nightmare, typically involving soaking your nails in acetone leaving the nails weak and dry. Poly gel is easily removed by buffing it down with a 150-180 grit file or a nail drill if you’re kinda fancy. 

Versatility

Poly gel can be used as an overlay over your natural nails (filed down to where your natural nails ends) or as an extension (using either dual forms or in conjunction with nail tips). You can file them down to whatever size and shape your heart desires.
