Manicures, Margaritas and Miley: Our Aussie Summer Favs
Many of us can agree that 2020 was one of the most challenging years of our lives yet. Our founders Renee and Monique can agree that they’ll be recovering from burnout, a degree of lockdown PTSD, “Zoom-fatigue”, and the exhaustive feeling of being in the unknown for quite a while. Luckily, the promise of a balmy Australian summer makes the healing process just a little easier.
As we say a big ba-bye to the clusterduck that was 2020, and hello to a fresh start our founders Renee and Monique would love to share how they are enjoying their holidays before it’s back to business, as well as a few of their summer favs.
In the comments, let us know how you’re spending/ spent your down time this summer.
I've got a ____ in my hand.
Renee: Chilli Margarita, hands down. There is nothing better than laying by the pool and sipping an ice cold marg.
Monique: A strong love for Margaritas is something Renee and I have in common. I also love a Rosé or two.
I'll be laying on ____ beach.
Renee: I went to Port Douglas a few times as a child and can think of no better place for a romantic getaway with my boyfy. Fingers crossed we will be heading there later this month if travel restrictions don’t tighten. We plan to head out diving one of the days and to Nautilus for dinner one night for a seafood feast.
Monique: My cousin and I are road trippin’ up to SA to reunite with family and friends. First stop will be at our fav, The Boarder Town Bakery (it’s mandatory that you have a classic meat pie and iced coffee). Then we will spend the remainder of the week being ‘beach bums’ at Second Valley and Port Willunga.
I'll be wearing____.
Renee: I can't go past a cute maxi dress. I’ve never been a shorts and top kinda gal. I like to feel like a goddess in the summertime. Plus, the more flowy the dress, the more seafood marinara I can eat.”
Monique: Anything linen! I adore linen, it’s light, breezy and effortless.
I've got ____ in my beauty bag.
Renee: Cream blush... I’m just a bit obsessed at the moment. Lucky the 80s are back!
Monique: La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid SPF 50+ is my go-to sunscreen. I have a fear of aging... I wish I was joking. I lather my face in SPF and also really love the dewy bronze glow La Roche Posay leaves on my skin.
____ is on my nails.
Renee: Gelato Nails Gel Polish in Helen. It's my favourite colour, is named after my Nan and well... nothing beats a classic red.
Monique: Sugar Baby! I'm a creature of habit and Gelato Nails Poly Gel in Sugar Baby has been my favourite since day one.
I'm listening to _____.
Renee: Anything rock ‘n' roll... Gunners, Led Zeppelin, Van Halen, the list goes on. I like it classic, heavy and bad to the bone.
Monique: I’m currently switching between Taylor Swifts, Evermore album and Miley Cyrus’ Plastic Hearts album, both on repeat dependant on my mood…
I'm reading ____.
Renee: I'm actually not reading anything at the moment. I work in publishing so during the holidays I like to give reading a break. However, next on my list is Blowing My Way to the Top by Jen Atkin. Has anyone read it? How was it?
Monique: I’ve been reading Normal People by Sally Rooney for the last nine months... perhaps I’ll finish that.
